Take a Bite Out of Crime

Fight back against crime in Logan Circle by joining us for two upcoming walk-throughs of our neighborhood. Officers from MPD will be joining us, and we will be following-up with appropriate District offices and officials to ensure our concerns are addressed.

Date: August 1, 2006
Location: 1300 Block of Naylor Court NW
Time: 5 p.m.

Join MPD, District offices, and community leaders for National Night Out on August 1,2006. This year, PSA 307 will host the event on the 1300 block of Naylor Court NW. In light of the District's Crime Emergency, and led by Lt. Smith, we'll meet at 5 p.m. for a walk-through of surrounding blocks to identify areas of concern, followed by a cook-out and celebration to demonstrate our community's stance against crime and commitment to public safety. For more information, contact Lt. Smith or LCCA.

Date: August 19, 2006
Time: 10 a.m. - noon
Location: TBD (SMDs 02, 04, and o6)

The ANC2F Committee on Crime and Public Safety (CCPS) is pleased to announce that it will conduct a survey of Single Member Districts 02, 04, and 05 (click here for a map of SMDs in ANC2F) to identify public-safety infrastructure-related concerns, including graffiti, downed/missing signage, missing street light plates, abandoned vehicles, broken windows, overflowing trash - basically anything that makes our neighborhood more attractive to criminals. We intend to pass along the results of our survey to city officials for appropriate follow-up. To see the results of our first survey visit our website.

We are looking for at least 10 volunteers to join us on Saturday, August 19th at 10:00 at a place to be determined. We expect the survey to last approximately 2 hours (just in time for a late brunch/lunch). We hope to have enough volunteers to divide up into teams to survey the neighborhood. Digital cameras are welcome. If you are interested please contact the Crime Committee.

Stay safe!
